Hi.
Yes I'm an expat, I was born and bred in Sidmouth, I was schooled there and play rugby for the town and soccer for Sidbury United, I learnt my trade in the town as a plumber before joining the Fire Service full time in 1974, I retired from the Service in 2001 and in September 2003 moved to Spain where my wife and I are spending our retirement on the Costa Blanca, we have very fond and very happy memories of our life in Sidmouth and for the ten years we spent in Exmouth where I was posted to after serving 16 years at Exeter Fire Station, we still keep in touch with many friends in Sidmouth as our son still lives and work there.
May we take this opportunity to wish Sidmouth Rugby Club the very best when they take on Sheffield in the semi-final of the Rugby Cup, just one win away from playing at Twickenham, what a feat for the town, also may we send all our best wishes to all our friends in and around the Sidmouth area.

Good grief - I know you!!! I came across this Expats forum thru the Sid Herald site. You may not remember me, but I was married to Mike Prowse for 18 yrs (divorced 1993) whom you'll remember from the Retained Fire Service at Sidmouth. I've recently remarried and now commute between Sidmouth and Switzerland where my husband works. Mike and I have always maintained a good relationship, even post-divorce (better by far for the children), but unfortunately he's in very poor health these days. .

Hope you're enjoying Spain. I have to admit that England seems pretty grey every time I go back, tho Sidmouth is still lovely.

Best wishes,

Amanda
