EXETER UNDERGROUND PASSAGES: Discover medieval passageways that stretch under the city’s streets at this visitor attraction in the heart of the city centre.

A visit to Exeter’s Underground Passages is a most unusual event and one of the most exciting things available for young people in the City of Exeter. Dating from 14th century, these medieval passages under Exeter High Street are a unique ancient monument: no similar system of passages can be explored by the public elsewhere in Britain. They were built to house the pipes that brought fresh water to the city. Open: All year, admission charge £4.90 adults, £3.40 children (concessions and family rate available). POWDERHAM CASTLE. Powderham Castle is located in a unique, picturesque setting beside the Exe estuary. Six hundred years of history are contained within the walls of one of England’s oldest family homes. Outside there are acres of space to discover and explore too. The Castle is set in the middle of a deer park, which is home to around 600 fallow deer. April 5 until October 30 daily (except Saturdays). 11am to 4.30pm. 11am to 5.30pm (July 19 - August 31).
