Wilmington Hayes Gardens and Waterfowl Collection, Wilmington, Honiton. Tudor-style mansion (not open) within 83 acres of mature gardens and woodlands. Opening times (this year): May 14 - Jun 4, Sun, 2pm - 5pm. Admission: £3 (Adults); £1 (Children)

May 2 POUND COTTAGE, Beacon, Honiton, EX14 4TT. John & Naomi Lott. Tel: 07870 363171. One-acre hillside garden with magnificent views, designed and developed by owners over 22 years. Admission: £3 - children free. (1 - 5).

May 5-9 HONITON FESTIVAL present a ‘mini’ festival.

May 9 POUND COTTAGE, Beacon, Honiton. See May 2 entry.

June

GOREN FARM, Stockland. Wild flower meadow walk through 50 acres of fields not ploughed in living memory. Two-and-a-half hour guided tours at 10.30am with cold lunches and cider June 6/7 and July 4/5. Opening dates and times: Saturdays, Sundays June 6, 7, 20, 21, July 4, 5, 18 19 (10.30 - 5). Visitors also welcome by appointment June/July/August. Admission: Adult £4, Child free June 6/7, July 4/5 £2, children free other days.

June 6 LITTLE ASH BUNGALOW, Honiton, (Fenny Bridges). One-and-a-half acres, designed for year-round interest. Admission £3, children free. (1.30 - 5.30)

July 21 HOT PENNIES DAY. Starts noon in the High Street. An annual tradition, where hot pennies are thrown to the crowds of onlookers from the windows of the town’s hostelries.

July 25 HONITON CHARTER DAY. This day celebrates the Market Charter signed back in 1257. Fun and festivities run throughout the day in and around the High Street, culminating to an evening at the Millennium green (The Glen), of music played by the Honiton Town Band.

August

August 6 HONITON & DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL SHOW. 8am - 6pm. A traditional show for the farming community.

August 15 -17 BEAUTIFUL DAYS FESTIVAL at Escot Historic Gardens, Maze and Fantasy Woodland, Ottery St Mary. Music across five stagesand festival attractions.

Aug 15/16 LITTLE ASH BUNGALOW, Honiton, (Fenny Bridges). See June 6 entry.

August 30-31 HONITON HILL RALLY, Stockland. 10am - 6pm. Annual event with market stalls, vintage cars, vehicles and farming of yesteryear, rural crafts, working heavy horses, commercial and military vehicles, trade stands, arts and crafts.

October 24 HONITON & DISTRICT CARNIVAL. Procession starts at 7.30pm.
