Heavens opened when Millwey were 2-0 up!

Only three matches in Perry Street league made it on Saturday, and two of them were Lyme Regis teams.

Lyme 1sts boss Robin Townsend still isn't sure how his side managed to lose 4-3 to Blandford Sports in the Dorset Intermediate Cup, having dominated much of the second half.

He said: " Julian Simier scored in the first half, and he added another after the break, when Dominic Rowe also scored. But Luke Clifton headed the ball into the path of a Blandford striker and then Rowe had a back pass which met an onrushing centre forward - both those blips resulted in goals and a 3-2 deficit. Lyme were pushing for the equaliser but got caught with a breakaway and ran out of time to get ahead.

Man of the match was difficult to pick but Ashley Caddy, who was a virtual spectator in the second half, did make a couple of telling saves before the break.

Lyme Bantams were also in action, going down 5-1 to Misterton away. Ben Strong was the scorer.

Millwey Rise Reserves were 2-0 up against Fivehead United when the heavens opened, the wind and their opponents, who were with the wind, dealt with the elements much more successfully.

Manager Stuart Ellis said:"It was miserable. I nearly couldn't pick up the kit bag at the end and, as I was running the line wearing jeans, I almost couldn't move by the end. We were soaking. We were doing quite well and it was good to get a game. Danny Larcombe and Mark Pike scored - we were 1-0 up by half time and when we were 2-0 up just after the break it was a dream start. The match was really well refereed and was a good learning curve for us. They were a good side and coped with the conditions much better than we did!
