Seaton Town Council is hosting its inaugural Jurassic Weekend from Thursday, August 24 to Saturday 26.

There are many events planned over the weekend, The first is a Jurassic Quiz – Thursday, 24th August at 7pm. Attendees can test their general knowledge at the Gateway Theatre. Teams of up to six, £5 per person. Tickets are available to purchase at the Gateway Theatre.

Seaton Children’s Festival – Friday, August 25 between 10am and 4pm Free entry. Bring a picnic and join in the fun at the Underfleet Play Park. At the festival, Exeter Fun Science will run some great science workshops, while for those who enjoyed Circus Berzercus at the Seaton summer celebration, there will be another chance to practice your circus skills.

The popular Crazy Crabs beach school will be there, with the Thelma Hulbert Creative Cabin, and a stage area for aspiring young musicians. Visitors can have a go at making their own slime, try some dinosaur sand art and sit back and watch the magic shows and majorettes’ display. Seaton community groups will be there with lots more fun activities and keep an eye out for special guests!

Disco Like It’s 1993 - Friday, 25th August at 8pm. Grab your dancing shoes and step back in time to 1993 with all the best dance floor fillers from the late 60s to early 90s at the Gateway Theatre. £6 per person, tickets available to purchase at the Gateway Theatre.

• Seaton Outdoor Cinema presents ‘Jurassic Park’ on Saturday, 26th August. Commemorating the 30th anniversary since its release in 1993, Universal Studios have granted permission to show ‘Jurassic Park’ on the Jurassic Coast, so bring a blanket or a chair and come along to Cliff Field Gardens to celebrate. The “Park” opens at 7pm, film starts at approximately 8.30pm.

Tickets are on sale at the Tourist Information Centre, Coastal Craft Collective and Owl and Pyramid - adults £12, children (under 16) £9. Food and drink concessions available on site (no alcohol sales and no dogs in the gardens). As part of the Seaton’s Jurassic Weekend activities, Seaton Town Council is inviting everyone to take part in a Jurassic photo competition. Look out for the T-Rex and the Jurassic Park gates at the various events, take a photo and upload it to Instagram at @visitseatondevon with the hashtag #seatonsjurassicweekend.

Judging will take place during the week beginning 28th August and winners will be notified, via Instagram with information on how to collect their prize.
