Axminster Town Council invites nominations for the Robin Cross Citizen of the Year award.

This honour pays tribute to individuals who exemplify selflessness and community spirit, mirroring the remarkable legacy of Robin Cross himself.

The late Robin Cross worked tirelessly as a Police Special Constable and gave years of dedicated service at the local school. He was well known for going above and beyond to assist those in need.

The Citizen of the Year award recognises individuals who, like Robin, voluntarily dedicate themselves to the welfare of our community and the betterment of Axminster. It's an opportunity to honour those who work tirelessly to make a profound difference in the lives of others. People like Mary Darlow, who was bestowed the award in January of this year and who volunteers and cooks for two outstanding charitable organisations, Nourish and Axminster Christmas Together.

Nominations for the award are open until midnight on December 1. It's a chance to shine a spotlight on those remarkable individuals whose acts of kindness, dedication, and service have made a tangible impact on the town.

The process is simple:

1.      Nominate any individual they believe embodies the essence of community spirit and selflessness by the 1st of December. You can do this online at: www.surveymonkey.com/r/RobinCrossAward or pick up a nomination form from the Town Council Office at Axminster Guildhall.

2.      The Town Councillors will carefully consider and select the recipient whose commitment and contributions stand out as exemplary from the list of people nominated.

3.      The award will be presented in early 2024, celebrating the recipient's role in shaping a vibrant and caring community. They will also be asked to select a local charity or good cause to receive a £100 donation made in their name.

Please nominate one of Axminster’s unsung community heroes whose unwavering dedication mirrors the remarkable legacy of Robin Cross so we can celebrate and recognise those who embody the very best of our community.
