Medical practice is offering help and support for people with memory loss

Axminster Medical Practice is to hold its first “Dementia Health and Wellbeing Day”.

It will take place in the Conybeare Day Centre at Axminster Hospital on Friday, November 23.

Offering help and advice will be a GP, specialist consultant, specialist community matron and many other health and social care staff.

People can book an appointment by phoning Axminster Medical Practice, or simply turn up, although if too many arrive at once it might limit what can be offered.

Senior partner Dr Phil Taylor said: “We do not expect to work miracles on just one day but hope that this day will be a catalyst towards making sure that people living with dementia get all the help they need but which they might previously not have been aware of.

“There is good evidence that an annual review of care can be of great benefit because patients and their carers often have health or social care needs which are not currently being met.”

Anyone who cannot make the day but would still like dementia advice is encouraged to make a double appointment with their own GP at the surgery.
