Local crafts will be on sale at Windsor Gardens during four Saturdays - the latest move to revitalise the town centre
Seaton is set to welcome a new artisan market to its high street - part of plans to revitalise the shopping centre.
The first of four events will take place at Windsor Gardens, Cross Street, on Saturday (August 31), from 10am to 3pm.
It will be selling locally sourced, home crafted, arts and crafts from Devon, Dorset and Somerset.
The market is one of a number of new initiatives that the town council and town development team have been working on to enliven the shopping centre, increase activity and footfall and encourage more people to visit.
The project is made possible by funding from the Government’s department for communities and local government, town team fund.
Karin Frewin, marketing and events co-ordinator for Seaton said: “We’re really pleased to be able to bring the market to Seaton. The town development team and council are working hard to enliven Seaton.
“We already have a number of great activities running throughout the summer, including Tai Chi by the Sea at Jubilee Gardens plus some fantastic events for children and youth organised by our Youth and Recreation team. We hope that people will enjoy and support the artisan market.”
Pitches for the market have been kept to a reasonable level and anyone wishing to take advantage should contact the market administrator by email on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Mayor Gaynor Sedgwick said: “Seaton Town Council has been working hard to create a vibrant town centre, we hope that the artisan market will encourage even more footfall into the town. It has been exciting to see new businesses coming to Seaton, however local businesses need to remain open and be consistent in their opening hours, particularly in the summer months and when events take place, to benefit.”
Three more artisan markets will take place on September 7, September 21 and October 5.
