An Axminster motorist charged with causing the death of a Honiton biker by careless or inconsiderate driving has appeared in court.

Richard Clement did not enter a plea when he appeared at Exeter Magistrates’ Court this morning (Tuesday).

Clement, 75, of Farm Hill, Mounthill Lane, in Musbury, is charged with causing the death of Richard Earnshaw, from Honiton, by careless or inconsiderate driving.

Mr Earnshaw, 33, died in hospital following a collision on the A3052 in Rousdon in June last year.

Family members of Mr Earnshaw packed the public gallery as Clement elected trial at Exeter Crown Court.

An initial hearing will be held at Exeter Crown Court on March 16.
