Pupils at Axminster Community Primary Academy dressed as characters from their favourite stories to celebrate World Book Day.
Delayed by a week because of the recent snow, children throughout the school – from aged two to 11 - attended class in a variety of colourful costumes, from caped crusaders to fairytale heroines.
The school’s English Subject Leader Donna Butler praised the pupils – and their parents – for creating some outstanding outfits.
Many chose to go along as well known story book heroes and heroines but some children created their own characters and wrote a story around them.
At the end of the day prizes were awarded for the most creative costumes.
World Book Day (WBD) was scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 1, but celebrations were postponed at many schools which were forced to close because of the blizzards.
WBD is designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, marked in over 100 countries.
