Parade is one of the most colourful in recent years

One of the most colourful carnival parades in recent years was enthusiastically cheered on at Axminster on Saturday night.

Organisers were delighted with the quality of the tableaux and walking entries and especially welcomed an increase in the number of trade floats, flying the flag for local firms.

Crowds were in generous mood, donating around £1,500 to the army of collectors – an increase on last year. The money will be given to local worthy causes.
