Organisers are delighted with the crowd’s generosity during the big parade
More than £1,760 was donated by spectators during Axminster Carnival procession this year.
Organisers were delighted with the crowd’s generosity during the big parade which kept the collecting buckets rattling throughout the colourful evening.
The final profit will be given to local worthy causes when Axminster hosts the East Devon carnival circuit presentation night at The Guildhall on November 29.
Officials have praised all the helpers for their hard work on parade night, including members of Axminster Rotary Club who acted as crowd marshalls.
Rotarian Martin King said: “The Carnival is one of the highlights of our year and we thoroughly enjoy being part of the large band of workers who make it all possible. We congratulate all the participants on the floats, the organisers, the backroom boys and girls, the police, fire and St John’s Ambulance Brigade, and all the public who thronged to support the evening.
“Our next big occasion for the public will be the Festive Friday celebrations to be held in Trinity Square on Friday, December 6, and hope that many will note the date and turn up to see Father Christmas from about 5pm that evening.”
