Major cuts look set to be announced today as company strikes deal with unnamed buyer
Axminster Carpets is today (Tuesday, March 5) expected to announce major job losses as part of a deal to rescue the company.
An official statement on the beleaguered firm’s future is due to be made this afternoon.
Early indications are that around 300 of the 400 jobs at the factory, and its spinning and dyeing works in Buckfastleigh, will go following its sale to an, as yet, unnamed buyer.
Sources reported about 95 members of staff are expected to be kept in Axminster while almost all the workforce at Buckfastleigh looks likely to go.
