COLOURFUL posters promoting world peace have gone on show at Axminster Arts Café.

They have been produced by local youngsters in a competition organised by the Lions Club.

Members judged 156 entries from six East Devon schools in the latest contest.

The winning local entries went on to the south west area finals where 12-year-old Lottie Rouse, Axminster primary school’s champion, was awarded joint third place.

Now a pupil at Woodroffe School, she has been invited to attend the regional awards ceremony at Torquay in March.

Lottie’s mum Claire works at Axminster Primary School and her dad Tim is a professional photographer.

Axminster Lions president Marcia Cook said: “The peace poster contest sponsored by local Lions clubs throughout the world is a wonderful opportunity for young people to express the importance of peace. Tolerance and international understanding.”
