Civic leader explains the importance of reading to Axe Valley Community College students
The importance of reading was highlighted by Axminster Mayor Andrew Moulding when he addressed students on Friday.
He was at The Axe Valley Community College to help the youngsters celebrate world book day.
Cllr Moulding explained how important reading is in his roles as a county, district and town councillor.
He also shared two books he had read with the students - Touching The Void by Joe Simpson and Who Moved My Cheese? by Dr Spencer Johnson. He explained that, although only a small book, it had a profound effect on him.
Cllr Moulding then held a question and answer session during which the students quizzed him on many aspects of his roles as mayor and councillor.
Before leaving he generously donated both his books to the college library.
English Teacher Lisa Martin said: “The students were clearly genuinely interested in Cllr Moulding’s books. He engaged the students well with his interactive style and his talk was a very beneficial addition to our world book day activities.”
