Axminster pupil wins excellence award

Catenians recognise primary school youngster’s example to others through her Christian values

Axminster Catenians have presented an excellence award to a pupil at the town’s St Mary’s RC Primary School.

Teachers, children and their families were at assembly to applaud Emily Wright as she received her certificatefrom the group’s president, Peter Westoby.

The awards are presented to the pupil who, in the opinion of the head teacher and staff of the school, has provided an outstanding example to others of all round Christian values during their time there.

It is not directly related to academic or sporting achievements and is open to all pupils, including those who are not Catholics.

The Award takes the form of a large multi year plaque for the school, inscribed with the winner’s name, and a smaller plaque, together with a scroll, which the winner retains.

*Catenians are Catholic men who meet regularly for social activities – often with their families. They are part of an international organisation with over 10,500 members, who recently celebrated their centenary . Members of Axminster Catenians are drawn from East Devon, West Dorset and South Somerset.
