It was taken along to the school by Flamingo Pool lifeguard Ryan Braunton-Turner, who was chosen to carry the flame through Minehead recently. Youngsters also made their own Olympic torches to carry on the run around the school playing field. The annual event, now in its 22nd year, helps to raise money for equipment and school visits not covered by the local education authority budget. All the youngsters who took part were presented with a Jubilee medal specially struck for the occasion by Axminster Ironworks Ltd.
