Police in the Axe Valley are warning motorist to beware of beauty spot thieves now the holiday season is under way.

Over the past few months officers say they have seen an increase in vehicle crime, especially in rural locations.

Seaton Police Community Support Officer Sam Slater and her colleague PCSO Mike McGauley have been visiting the locations where thieves have struck to put up posters advising motorists to keep valuables out of sight.

There are also making available two information leaflets that are available – ‘Keep valuables out of sight, keeping your vehicle safe’ and ‘Stay safe on your holiday’.

Police say the top tips to combat vehicle crime are:

* Don’t leave valuables in your car.

* Keep your mobile phone in a safe place.

* Don’t leave your bags unattended.

PCSO Slater added: “If you see me or Mike about and would like any further help or information on vehicle crime in our area please stop and ask.”
