Bridgwater Carnival travel advice

13:39 02 November 2012

Archant

Non carnival traffic urged to avoid M5 between junctions 23 and 24.

The Highways Agency is advising road users the M5 in Somerset could be busier than normal tomorrow (Saturday) as people make their way to and from Bridgwater Carnival.

The carnival is expected to attract up to 120,000 people and high levels of traffic are expected on key routes to Bridgwater, including the M5.

The procession starts at 7pm, with traffic expected to build up between M5 junctions 23 and 24 from 5pm. Heavy traffic will also be expected between 9pm and 10.30pm as people leave the event.

Road users are advised to allow extra time and any non-carnival traffic may want to consider an alternative route.
