Honiton Cats Protection is seeking more volunteer fosterers to lend a helping hand.

The volunteers will provide foster homes for cats and kittens as well as assist with their daily care and welfare.

Branch co-ordinator Lizzie Manley told the Herald that two existing fosterers will soon be retiring from their roles and there is a need to find new people who can help in this vital part of the volunteer team.

She said: “We are looking for somebody who loves cats, has plenty of time to spare and doesn’t mind a bit of hard work.”

Fosterers work closely with the vets to ensure that all cats have a full health-check and are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for fleas and worms before they are re-homed.

Lizzie added: “It is brilliant feeling when you have taken care of a cat through its illness, got it healthy and well, and then seeing it go off to a new home. But it is hard work and commitment is needed.”

For more information or to volunteer call Lizzie on 01404 45241.
