Firefighters unable to save vehicle in town centre blaze which spread to nearby department store
A car was destroyed in a fire in Axminster town centre last night (Tuesday).
Local firefighters arrived at around 7.20pm to find the vehicle well alight, near the traffic lights, in Trinity Square.
The crew set to work to extinguish the fire using two breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and two dry powder extinguishers.
The fire spread to the Trinity House department store’s windows, causing damage.
The cause of the blaze was accidental.
