Cash boost for day hospice appeal

Staff and customers at Alan Rowe Barbering in Honiton show their support for Hospiscare’s new day hospice, which is to be built in the town.

An appeal to raise much-needed funds for a new state-of-the-art day hospice in Honiton has received a cash boost of £1,000.

Staff and customers at Alan Rowe Barbering in Honiton presented a cheque to Hospiscare to go towards the new facility, which is to be built in King Street.

The money was raised from the shop’s Christmas raffle.

Alan Rowe MBE said: “I strongly believe in quality of life and that is just what Hospiscare provides at a most critical point for many families and all from the help of charitable donations from those who live in East and Mid Devon - we’re all supporting each other.”

He added: “The new Hospiscare day hospice will really help those going through a most difficult time, especially in the east of Hospiscare’s area and we are delighted to support it.”

The new hospice is a partnership project with Budleigh District, Exmouth and Lympstone, and Sidmouth Hospiscare. It is hoped the centre will open this year.

The Hospiscare appeal aims to raise £250,000 to complete the project and provide the running costs for two years.
