Staff and customers at Alan Rowe Barbering in Honiton show their support for Hospiscare’s new day hospice, which is to be built in the town.

An appeal to raise much-needed funds for a new state-of-the-art day hospice in Honiton has received a cash boost of £1,000.

Staff and customers at Alan Rowe Barbering in Honiton presented a cheque to Hospiscare to go towards the new facility, which is to be built in King Street.

The money was raised from the shop’s Christmas raffle.

Alan Rowe MBE said: “I strongly believe in quality of life and that is just what Hospiscare provides at a most critical point for many families and all from the help of charitable donations from those who live in East and Mid Devon - we’re all supporting each other.”

He added: “The new Hospiscare day hospice will really help those going through a most difficult time, especially in the east of Hospiscare’s area and we are delighted to support it.”

The new hospice is a partnership project with Budleigh District, Exmouth and Lympstone, and Sidmouth Hospiscare. It is hoped the centre will open this year.

The Hospiscare appeal aims to raise £250,000 to complete the project and provide the running costs for two years.
