Hospiscare has received a welcome cash boost of £5,000 from the Santander Foundation to fund its new day Hospice in Honiton.

The donation will go towards the development of the new state-of-the-art hospice, which will serve the communities of East Devon.

The grant was provided by the Santander Foundation which offers grants to UK registered charities for projects that help people in local communities.

Sarah Smith appeal fundraiser at Hospiscare said: “We are so grateful for this generous donation from the Santander Foundation, and would also like to thank Amy Tucker at Santander for nominating our East Devon Appeal. The grant will help significantly towards our £250,000 target to complete, equip and build our new hospice.”

“Our aim to bring care closer to the people of East Devon is moving a step nearer with the site now being cleared and prepared for building to start. As we enter this exciting stage we need more than ever the continued support of local people to fundraise for us.”

The new day hospice is being built in King Street.

Darren McArdle, the branch manager at Santander Honiton, said: “The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes throughout the UK. Our branch is committed to supporting the community and I am delighted to work with a team of great people and local charities to build a better future for the people of East Devon.”
