Feniton father takes on his third tandem skydive.

A Feniton father is hoping to make a difference to the lives of seriously ill children by taking part in a charity skydive.

Phil Loader, who previously lived in Honiton, will be raising money for Children’s Hospice South West.

The 33-year-old is no stranger to tandem skydiving - this latest jump, which takes place on August 27, at Dunkeswell Airfield, will be his third.

“I am paying for the jump myself so everything I raise will be going to charity,” says Phil. “There are many charities out there, but as a parent, this one is extremely close to my heart and personal.”

Phil has seen the important work provided by hospice facilities as his dad, John, received care and support from a hospice in Exeter before he died three years ago. He had planned to raise money for the hospice in Exeter but decided to help Children’s Hospice South West provide support to seriously ill children and their families. He hopes to raise £1,000 for the charity. He said: “It is a worthwhile cause. It is not something you want to think about. But, to anyone who has got children when you think about how lucky you are, spare a thought for the children, who aren’t so lucky. It is something you hope you will never need.”

He added: “The pounds soon add up and can make a difference to someone’s life, what they may have left.”

The jump will see Phil drop 15,000 feet. However, he does admit he is not a great fan of heights. He said: “I am looking forward to it.” To sponsor Phil visit www.justgiving.com/phil-loader. Alternatively, text RORO91 £1, to 70070.
