Organisers behind this year’s Charter Day celebrations are urging the community to get involved in the festivities.
Vernon Whitlock, Sally Casson, Sue Bewsey and Margaret Lewis stepped down from the committee last Thursday.
They were founders of the annual event, which quickly grew into one of Honiton’s modern-day success stories.
John Zarczynski has taken over as chairman of the group and has been joined by mayor David Foster.
Mr Zarczynski said: “We need some more volunteers. It is a very historic year for the town with the building of the community centre - the first public building in the town for over 40 years.
“With all the doom and gloom, let’s get Honiton up-beat and make it a nice day.
“The more we can do, the more people we will get in the town.”
The committee is currently speaking with local shops in the town and hope to get as many people as possible involved and to contribute in any way they can.
Charter Day takes place on July 27.
Anyone interested in getting involved is urged to call John Zarczynski on 01404 234087 or email john20ski@yahoo.co.uk
