Children at a Honiton primary school now glow in the dark - thanks to a removal company which has given them high visibility vests.

Britannia Lanes hopes the vests will help ensure children are seen by drivers during their walks to and from school.

The company has given 20 vest to Littletown Primary Academy.

Headteacher Caroline Bond said: “We are very grateful for these new high-visibility vests. Our three walking buses pick up many of our children who can be as young as four and their safety is of paramount importance.

“These bibs will ensure that we can continue to encourage a healthy start to the day in a safe way.”

Rob Lane, director of Britannia Lanes, said: “Our drivers cover thousands of miles and we are very aware of the need for road safety, from the high speeds of the motorway to the narrow rural lanes.

“As a family firm, we are always interested in supporting the local community.

“It seemed to us that young children are very vulnerable in these gloomy mornings and afternoons and we are proud to be helping children stay safe on their way to and from school.”

Britannia Lanes is offering schools in East Devon the chance to benefit from the free vests.
