A Lyme Regis café owner made it a double donation when she handed a second cheque to the RNLI.

Xanne Carey, who runs the coffee shop Amid Giants and Idols in Silver Street, made her first donation this year after organising a coffee bean counting contest.

Then she raised more than £500 selling coffee during the Food Rocks event in the summer.

At the lifeboat crew’s training session last week Xanne presented her latest cheque to deputy launching authority John Cable and crew member John Bird.

She said: “I haven’t got a boat, but I do have great respect for the voluntary work of the RNLI crews.”
