Colyton carnival week reached a colourful climax on Saturday when crowds packed the streets to cheer on the procession of illuminated floats and fancy dress walking entries.

The Ron Bishop Carnival Trophy for best overall entry went to Working, from the Nunsford Nutters Carnival Club, which also took the Reece Strawbridge Cup for best local float.

Other cup winners were:

Southleigh Fayre Cup for best walking entry – Shrek, Colyton Rebels.

Feoffees Cup for best local youth float – Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf, Colyton Caterpillars.

Colyton Brownies cup for best float from uniformed organisations Winnie the Pooh, Colyton Brownies.

Irene Hill Plate for best music in procession Swinging 60’s, South Brent CC.

Theatre Group Cup for most entertaining entry Poppins, Amigos CC.

Youth tableau, under 18, open, motor drawn: 1 Swinging ’60s, South Brent Carnival; 2 Poppins, Amigos CC; 3 101 Dalmatians, Axminster Early Years.

Open floats, decorated, under 30ft: 1 Africa, Ipplepen CC; 2 Budrock and Roll, Budleigh Salterton CC.
