Community cinema gets ready for summer

Gravity, Frozen and 12 Years a Slave are just some of the films that will be screened by Honiton Community Cinema.

Honiton Community Cinema has yet another packed programme on offer for film lovers in the town this summer.

The Butler, starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey, follows the story of Cecil Gaines and his service in the White House through historical events including the civil rights movement and the Vietnam War. It will be shown on Friday, May 30, at the Mackarness Hall, 7pm for 7.30pm.

This will be followed by a screening of Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, on Friday, June 20.

From July and August the community cinema will be moving to the Beehive, Honiton’s new community centre in Dowell Street.

Future film screenings include Steve McQueen’s Oscar winner, 12 Years a Slave, on Friday, July 18, A Long Way Down, on Friday, August 15, followed by Disney’s Frozen on Saturday, August 16.
