The hunt is on from a motorbike which was stolen from a back garden in Axminster.

The vehicle - a 2006 Hongdou 125, was taken from the garden in Green Lawn Way in the early hours of this morning (Friday).

Police are investigating the theft, which has left the owners “devastated”.

The owner of the bike said: “This morning, at about 1am, my husband heard a noise outside.

“He thought it was someone getting in their car, but it must have been someone stealing the bike.

“We are devastated - we saved up really hard for this bike and for someone to take it after such a long time is heartbreaking.

“My ten-year-old son was waiting to be old enough to ride it, and he is completely devastated.”

The owner believes that someone must have scouted the garden before deciding to take the bike, which is green in colour..

She told the Herald that someone entered her back garden three weeks ago, but was scared away by their dog.

“It is the fact that someone came into our garden and violated our privacy,” she added.

“There was tick tarpaulin covering the bike and that had been slashed with a knife.”

Police are investigating the theft - anyone with any information should call 101 quoting CR/038542/17
