Crackdown on Seaton speeders

Speedwatch team is planning extra sessions in Seaton Down Hill during Road Safety Week

The Seaton Down Hill Speedwatch team is planning extra monitoring sessions during Road Safety Week.

Campaigners will be checking traffic speeds as often as possible during a 24 hour period starting on Monday, November 20.

Road Safety Week, co-ordinated by the charity Brake, takes place between November 20 and 26.

The theme is: ‘Speed Down and Save Lives’.

The Seaton Down Hill Speedwatch Team is hoping to attract the support and involvement of the local police.

And local sign company, ‘RandH Signs’, is supporting them by donating a special sign for the week which can also be used for all future sessions.

Seaton Down Hill Speedwatch Coordinator Paul Allan said: “We want to make drivers more aware of the dangers of there being a serious accident on this road due to the excessive speeding that we record during our sessions. We want to change the culture of speeding that is prevalent on this road so that, potentially, we can save lives.”
