A CHARITY is calling on the residents of East Devon to be sociable and raise money at the same time.Cancer Research UK has launched its new initiative, Dine@Mine, to encourage people to enjoy food with friends and family, while raising money for life-saving research. The charity is calling on people from Axminster, Seaton, Honiton, Lyme Regis and the surrounding area to host an evening of food, fun and friendliness. In return guests will be invited to make a donation to Cancer Research UK.Hosts can opt for a simple menu, such as a bowl of pasta, or really push the boat out and serve a banquet.Dawn Harrison, Cancer Research UK's area volunteer manager, said: "Dine@Mine is a great way for people to enjoy a fun evening together while taking part in something that's making a real difference to Cancer Research UK's work to help prevent, treat and beat cancer - a disease that affects one-in-three people in the UK at some stage in their lives."These events can be small scale affairs for five or six people or they can be extravagant feasts for 30 and once the meal is over the host can concentrate on persuading one or more of their guests to host their own party."
