Don’t complain

PUBLISHED: 11:30 28 March 2012

Re letters in March 21 issue. I have no idea who M Bowers is or how old or what they do for a living, but they made me mad !!

How dare they criticise someone who has optimism for our town. If more people felt like Mr Byrne Jones instead of putting him down, Seaton would bloom again.

In the same issue was an article on Seaton entering in the In bloom competition and appealing for support and help. I was at the latest meeting of that group, about 20 took part, always the few, who care and are prepared to give freely of their time for their town.

Many, in various ways, do this quietly and behind the scenes; does M Bowers do any of this? I guess not, otherwise he/she would not be so critical of someone who is proud of their town.

It has nothing to do with Tesco, it has to do with people, if they choose to shop at Tesco not with local traders, especially as a great majority of them complained bitterly about it in the first place then the hypocrites are consigning our local traders to losses.

I know times are hard financially for us all but putting our town down does not help; doom and gloom spreads. Let’s all smile give some of our time, be proud of our town; it has a lot to offer if you only look for it.

It’s also quite different from most of the small coastal towns in that it has lovely wide streets.

Think of them brimming with visitors, all spending and then think about how you can make it happen. If a small fraction of our population gave a small fraction of their time we could make this happen.

Shame that apathy and complaining seem to be the main theme for those who have nothing better to do with their time.
