A BRIDPORT business has become the first in Dorset to win a new ecological award. Local home improvements manufacturer Heavers of Bridport Ltd has been awarded an 'A label' in the government-backed Window Energy Rating Scheme, the first company to do so in the whole county. The label, similar to those found on new fridges and freezers, was awarded by the British Fenestration Ratings Council after thorough examination of Heavers' specification. "People are taking energy consumption more seriously than ever nowadays," said Malcolm Heaver, managing director of the family-run company. "And the windows of our homes are a way that everyone can make a real difference with just a little thought - and make significant savings on their fuel bills too." Heavers now qualifies to display the Energy Rating Scheme label, with its familiar letter and colour coding.
