The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind in East Devon tomorrow (Saturday, October 21), warning of 50 miles-per-hour winds and possible flooding.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for the region on Saturday (October 21) with the possibility of flooding.

A yellow weather warning has been issued for the South West for wind between 4am and midnight on Saturday.

It is being forecast that strong south-westerly winds could cause coastal communities to be affected by large waves ‘with potential for flooding of properties’.

A Met Office chief forecaster said: “Gusts exceeding 50 miles per hour are expected widely within the warning area with gusts of 60 to 70 mph along exposed southern and western coastal areas.

“These are expected to coincide with high tides, leading to locally dangerous conditions.”

The Met Office is warning of possible transport disruption across the area with delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport.

According to the weather forecasters, short term loss of power and other services is also possible.
