COULD a creature, photographed in an East Devon garden, be a locust?

Axmouth resident Jon Underwood is keen to find out - just in case his village is set to be invaded by the pests.

He photographed this insect on a plant in his garden.

“Have you had any reports of East Devon being invaded by locusts?” he asked the Midweek Herald.

We haven’t - so far!

Mr Underwood explained: “I took this picture of something about nine centimetres long in my garden.

“I am not really sure what it is, but I’ve never seen anything like it outside of biology lessons.”

Can you identify the creature? It is a locust or a common grasshopper?

Comment below - if you can help solve the mystery.
