Concern expressed at council meeting.
There is “no room for complacency” when it comes to Himalayan balsam, a Honiton councillor has warned.
Roy Coombs raised the issue of the invasive plant and told Honiton Town Council that it had nearly been eradicated in areas of the River Otter. He said: “Just one plant could have thousands of seeds – there is no room for complacency.”
Councillor Coombs also reported that Japanese knotweed had been discovered in the area of Waterleat Avenue, which he said could be a problem as it is near the Millennium Green and Roundball Wood.
The problem has been noted.
