Retired sergeant Andrew Kingston will run the Bath half marathon to raise money for the RNLI

Retired police officer Andrew Kingston has Lyme Regis lifeboat station on his new ‘beat’ as he prepares for the Bath half marathon next month.

The 51-year-old, from Coram Avenue, is looking for sponsors to raise donations for the RNLI charity.

Yesterday (Sunday, February 9) Andrew got a round of applause from the volunteer lifeboat crew as he went on his training run around the town’s harbour.

The Bath half marathon, on March 2, is Andrew’s third charity run. On previous occasions he raised money for Help for Heroes.

Andrew, who retired as a sergeant with Avon and Somerset Constabulary, said: “I really wanted to support a local charity as I live in Lyme Regis, and the RNLI is one of the best.”

He is distributing sponsorship forms throughout the town, but if anyone wants to contact him to donate they should ring Andrew on 07966 455101 or e-mail a-jkingston@hotmail.com.
