A spate of thefts from cars in the Withycombe Raleigh area has prompted Exmouth police to warn people to lock their property.
Police in Withycombe Raleigh are urging vehicle owners to lock it or lose it, following a spate of thefts in the area.
Officers have reported an increase in car crime in the last few months in Bradham Lane, Denmark Road and Masey Road.
The police have stepped up patrols in the area, but are urging motorists to do their bit in a bid to crackdown on crime.
Anyone witnessing car crime is asked to contact the police immediately, dialling 999.
Withycome Police Community Support Officer Ben Tithecott said: “Over the last few months there has been an increase in car crime.
“Some vehicles have been damaged and some have been broken into and have had items stolen.
“We are aware of the ongoing problem and have put measures in place in an attempt to stop it.
“We would like to remind all residents to please remove all valuables from your cars at night and to please make sure you lock your vehicles when leaving them unattended - thus making yourself less likely to be a target to these criminals.
“If you do become a victim of crime please report it. If it’s happening in the moment please dial 999, otherwise please call 101 and you will be contacted by an officer.
“Also, if you witness anything or have any information you feel could be of use, please call 101.”
