The faulty sign at Battishorne Way in Honiton is to be looked into says Devon County Council.
A fault on a speed detector sign based at Battishorne Way in Honiton is to be investigated, Devon County Council has confirmed.
The sign, based on a 30mph road which is used as a rat run in the town, was flagged up as an area of concern by Honiton town councillor Sharon Pavey earlier this month.
During the last full town council meeting, she said the sign had not been working for a number of weeks and feared the lives of pedestrians and motorists could be put at risk as a result.
Mrs Pavey has raised the issue a number of times and called for the fault to be investigated.
A spokesman for Devon County Council said: “We are investigating to find the cause of the fault.”
Initially, when the speed detector sign was put in place, it was too sensitive - flashing warnings at drivers who were going well below the limit.
