Fire at Axminster Carpets factory

Three appliances are on the scene - the extent of the blaze is not yet known

Fire crews are currently battling a blaze at Axminster Carpets Factory (12 noon, Tuesday August 19).

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset fire and rescue service said following numerous calls three fire appliances were immediately mobilised as well as a hydraulic platform.

On arrival of the first appliance, from Axminster, the officer in charge requested this was a five fire appliance incident. Additional resources were mobilised.

Six Breathing apparatus are currently being used to aid fire fighting. Fire fighters are currently using three hose reel jets to tackle the blaze.
