Firefighters were called to a blaze in Axminster’s historic Minster Church today (Thursday, March 6).

Although the extent of the damage is not yet known a crew member said it was a serious fire involving a wooden pew.

He said no one was injured in the incident and experts were checking to see what had caused the blaze.
