Five candidates have applied to be the Chief Constable with Devon and Cornwall Police, it has been confirmed today.

Interviews, for those selected, will take place on January 15.

The selection and interview panel comprises newly-elected Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg, Jan Stanhope, Kevin Lavery, chief executive of Cornwall County Council, Geoff Pears, an independent panel member, and Tony Melville, a professional advisor on policing.

The force has confirmed: “The interview process will consist of a candidate presentation and a competency-based interview.

“The appointment will be subject to a confirmation hearing by the Police and Crime Panel on February 8.”

Candidates have not been named.

Former Chief Constable Stephen Otter moved to Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary.
