Persistent rain halts trading at Moba in New Street, Honiton.

Persistent, heavy rain has forced the temporary closure of a flooded business in New Street, Honiton.

Ladies’ fashion boutique Moba will be closed “for a few days”, while owner Maureen Cromie insists workmen get to the bottom of ongoing flooding woes.

“Water is coming through light switches and, if my stock had been near the counter, it would all have been ruined,” she told the Midweek Herald.

Mrs Cromie has traded in Honiton for 30 years, but says flooding has only become an issue since January this year.

“It’s got to be sorted out and, with the amount of rain we have had this year, it’s been continuous,” she said. “The shop will be closed for a few days.”
