It’s full steam ahead for a special model railway open day in Honiton to boost funds for Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

Roger Stimpson and his wife Barbara will be hosting the event on Sunday, June 15, at their home at 5 Redwood Close.

Visitors will have the chance to take a look at Roger’s collection of model trains and railways as well as a large G gauge model track in the garden.

Refurbishment and reinforcement work has been completed on the garden track, which includes a viewing bridge. The track was built around 15 years ago by Barbara and has been rebuilt to look just as it did when it was first laid.

Roger’s collection of smaller model railway tracks will also be on show.

Due to the couple’s poor health they will be receiving a helping hand to run the garden track on the day from Gary Broom, of Allstar Maintenance, who has been carrying out work on the track.

His daughter Stella and stepson Sam Jones will also be helping out.

Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

The event takes place from 10am to 5pm, and is free to attend, but donations are welcome.
