Volunteers take to the streets as part of a community litter pick in Honiton.
A team of volunteers took to the streets over the weekend to give Honiton a spruce up.
The community litter pick, which was organised by Honiton town councillor Sharon Pavey, saw volunteers concentrating their cleaning efforts on Hazelwood Close, Holly Close, Spindlewood Close, Gronau Close, Brand Road and Manor Crescent.
Volunteers were also able to recycle some of the rubbish they collected.
The event was previously postponed due to the heavy snowfall. However, the weather was kind to the litter pickers on Sunday.
Cllr Pavey said: “Thank you to everyone who came out to help; we were very lucky with the weather and had sunshine all afternoon. One thing we noticed was the lack of bins in the Littletown area so we’re going to ask East Devon District Council for more.
“The other thing was there were so many elastic bands on the ground in every street, which we are investigating further.”
Cllr Pavey has lots of Keep Britain Tidy tabards, stickers and bags if anyone would like to organise a litter pick in their street.
Other events will be taking place later in the year.
Anyone who is concerned about the amount of litter in their area is urged to report it to Honiton Town Council on 01404 42957.
