An above par performance by a team from Axminster won them the top prize at the recent Rotary Charity Golf Day held at Lyme Regis.

Thirty-three teams of four competed at the seaside course on a day of glorious sunshine and breezes.

Organised jointly by the Rotary Clubs of Lyme and Axminster the main sponsor was Hix Oyster and Fish House who entered two teams.

Teams were also entered from the other major sponsors, South West Water, Axminster Tools and By the Bay Restaurant, at Lyme Regis.

More than £4,000 was raised for charity, bringing the total to over £30,000 over the eight years the event has been held.

The South West Children’s Hospice and Julia’s House and the Dorset Children’s Hospice will be the main beneficiaries, with many other local organisations and charities benefitting from donations by both the Rotary Clubs.

Great support from Lyme Regis Golf Club was appreciated as golfers enjoyed the excellent social facilities and the superbly prepared course.
