Top award for Axe Valley College student’s creative work
An Axe Valley Community College student has won acclaim for her creative artwork.
Molly Edwards, from Seaton, has been awarded first prize for her thought-provoking entry in the recent Exeter College art show.
The event was staged at The Yard Gallery and was the first collaborative project with local schools.
It was designed to engage and motivate talented students and to give them the opportunity to experience exhibiting their work in a public space.
The work on display ranged from photography, drawing, painting and sculpture.
Molly, a Year 10 student at Axminster, made a mixed media piece around the theme of ‘Ephemeral – looking at how memories from childhood and school are but momentary’.
She said: “My favourite medium is illustration linked with contextual art. I made ‘Ephemeral’ to show how my work explains emotion and how natural it is.”
Gemma Fletcher, head of art and design at Axe Valley Community College said: “Molly is an extremely creative, hardworking student and fellow students and staff are incredibly proud of her achievements.”
