The East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Partnership impresses the judges to win a Andrew Lloyd Webber heritage award.

The East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Partnership has received a big thumbs up from judges including Andrew Lloyd Webber and Melvyn Bragg for its outstanding work on heritage sites.

It received a commendation certificate for work conserving and enhancing heritage sites within the AONB as part of the Andrew Lloyd Webber Heritage Angels Awards.

Councillor Graham Godbeer said: “We are proud to receive this award; it is justification for all the hard work of the AONB team on these ancient sites, in particular Pete Youngman and Philippe Planel and, of course, our volunteers, without whom much of this would not have been possible.”

Charlotte Russell, of English Heritage, said: “The AONB Partnership has been rightly commended for the excellent work it has carried out, with volunteers, to restore extremely important heritage sites that have been on our ‘at risk’ list for many years.”

The work has been supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Keith Owen Fund of the Sid Vale Association, Devon County Council, East Devon District Council, English Heritage, DEFRA and the Devon Archaeological Society.
