The town’s very first mayor’s bear is finally named.

History has been made in Honiton after the town’s very first mayor’s bear was given an official name.

MB will now be known as Diddy the mayor’s bear and will continue to accompany the mayor, Councillor David Foster, during official engagements.

The name was put forward by Anna Millard and was chosen at a special naming ceremony and teddy bear story time at Honiton Library.

As part of the competition Anna won a £10 voucher to spend at Honiton Toy Shop.

Councillor Foster said: “Diddy is very pleased with his new name and I would like to thank everyone who entered and thank Honiton Library and Honiton Toy Shop for helping with the competition.”

Diddy has recently spent two weeks at the library where he has been busy catching up on his reading.

He has proved to be a popular civic leader with people in the town. Diddy’s next challenge will be to grow a moustache for Movember.
